Irmin Schmidt’s fantasy opera Gormenghast, libretto Duncan Fallowell, based based on the Mervyn Peake trilogy, premiered at the Operahouse Wuppertal on 15 November 1998. The second production at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Völklinger Hütte premiered on the 2nd of June 2004 and 30.June 2004 at Grand Theatre Luxembourg.
